Durango Code vs OpenCode

OpenCode is a popular open-source (MIT) coding agent with a terminal UI, a desktop app in beta, a web client and IDE extensions. It works with 75+ model providers and local models, and can sign in with a ChatGPT or GitHub Copilot subscription.

Durango Code runs OpenCode as one of its agents. Keep OpenCode for the models only it reaches, and run it next to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Grok and Kimi, which OpenCode can't host itself.

Which should you choose?

Choose Durango Code if

  • You want the real Claude Code and Codex next to OpenCode, not just their models.
  • You want to use your Claude Pro, Max or Ultra plan: OpenCode can't, Claude Code inside Durango Code can.
  • You want split view, cross-provider subagents, a task board, cloud repos and remote control in one app.

Use OpenCode on its own if

  • You live in the terminal and want a single, model-agnostic agent.
  • You use cheap or open-weight models through OpenCode Go or Zen, or local models.
  • You want to extend the agent itself with OpenCode's plugin system.
